Obedience is of Allah Alone

By Fatima

To Allah belongs the kingdom of the heavens and Earth. He gives life and causes to die. You have no protector or helper besides Allah. (Surat at-Tawba, 116)

He Who created me and guides me, Who gives me food and drink. When I am ill, He heals me. He will cause my death and then give me life. (Surat ash-Shu‘ara’, 78-82)

Whenever I find myself in a situation where I feel that I cannot let go of bad memories or a future that haunts me, instead of looking around for support I look inside of myself and realize that there has always been an entity with me. This entity gave me strength when I needed it the most, it also gave me comfort, care and love. He gave it all without any regrets and expectations and asked for only one thing in return, my loyalty, trust and faith in Him and in all that He does and to follow and abide by His commands.

That is the good news that Allah gives to His servants who believe and do right actions. Say: “I do not ask you for any wage for this—except that you love your near of kin. If anyone does a good action, We will increase the good of it for him. Allah is Ever-Forgiving, Ever-Thankful.” (Surat ash-Shura, 23)

Even though He has done so much for us and is still doing, what have we done for Him?

You are surrounded by various temptations and desires and instead of having control over ourselves we let them control us. Although we fast in the month of Ramadan but why do those fasts go in vain? Do they not teach us anything? Is it just another religious  month when we put aside our evil doings and once Eid is over we go back to where we started? Is that the reason why we actually observed fasting?

Humanity. Remember Allah’s blessing to you. Is there any creator other than Allah providing for you from heaven and earth? (Surah Fatir, 3)

Any blessing you have is from Allah. Then when harm touches you, you cry to Him for help.

(Surat an-Nahl, 53)

And also the things of varying colors He has created for you in the earth. There is certainly a sign in that for people who pay heed. (Surat an-Nahl, 13)

We are cursing our country all the times but what we forget that we have made it into what it is today. Why do we forget that it’s actually US who can either make this nation or break it. We have divided ourselves into Balochis, Punjabis and pathans, but in the end why do we fail to realize that we are all Muslims, serving the same Lord and that’s exactly what makes us Muslim brothers. Indeed we are all equal in the eyes of God. Regardless of this, people are fighting against each other, gunning down innocents. They are in return only ruining the situations not only for themselves but eventually for the country.

If we don’t give respect to each other and to our country, then no one will respect us, because respect itself can never be snatched, for it has to be earned!

Learn to forgive and forget, have patience, remember this world is temporary and we have to face Allah on The Day of Judgement. It’s never too late to turn to Allah for He is Oft-forgiving and the Most Merciful. He will forgive you if you pray with your heart for He knows what is really there in our hearts and minds. Indeed He can see and hear everything, nothing is hidden from Him.

Say, if you love Allah, obey me (Muhammad), Allah will love you and forgive you your sins, Allah is Forgiving and Merciful” (3:31)

If you love Allah show it in your conduct and obey Allah and His Messenger, for obedience of His Messenger is the obedience of Allah (4:80)

Abdullah ibn al-Mubarak recited:

You disobey Allah,

and yet you still claim to love Him.

By Allah, such behavior is disgusting,

by any standard!

You would have obeyed Him had your love been true.

For the lover is always obedient to the Beloved!

When you are finished reading the above lines,  look at yourself for a change, for each one of us is accountable for our own actions. No one is going to help you that Day and no one will give you a shoulder to cry on, no one will look at you on the basis of your race, color or authority (that you might have enjoyed in the temporary world) but remember just like the mountains that seem so high and strong will turn into cotton and float in air, projecting that the immense importance given to money, power, beauty in this world will ultimately have zero value in the Hereafter whereas values that we least give importance to, including moral and ethical values, respect, faith, truth and honesty, deeds, intentions, will decide your eventual eternal fate of heaven or hell!

And the mountains will be like wool (70: 9)

And the weighing on that day (Day of Resurrection) will be the true (weighing) . So as for those whose scale (of good deeds) will be heavy, they will be the successful (by entering Paradise). And as for those whose scale will be light, they are those who will lose their own selves (by entering Hell) because they denied and rejected Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.)
